Dough Preparation
- In a large bowl, mix together the flour, warm milk, egg, yeast, sugars, and salt. Knead the mixture for about 5-10 minutes until it’s smooth and elastic. Let it rise in a warm area for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Once the dough has risen, divide it into 9 equal portions and shape each into balls. Let them rest for 15 minutes to relax the gluten.
Filling Preparation
- In a skillet, sauté the diced apples with butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon until they become soft (about 5-7 minutes). Stir in the cornstarch mixed with a little water, cooking until it thickens. Set aside to cool.
- In a bowl, whisk together the cream cheese, granulated sugar, and vanilla sugar until smooth and creamy.
Assembling Buns
- Take a floured glass and firmly press down the center of each dough ball to create a deep well.
- Brush the edges of the indentations with egg yolk. Add 1 tablespoon of the cheesecake mixture followed by 1 tablespoon of the apple filling into each well. Generously top each bun with crumble mixture.
Baking
- Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Place the assembled buns on a baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until they are golden brown and puffed.
- Allow the buns to cool slightly before drizzling with the powdered sugar glaze for a touch of sweetness.
- Optional: Dust with additional powdered sugar before serving for an extra sweet finish.

Notes
Refrigerate any leftovers due to the cream cheese filling. Reheating at 300°F for about 5 minutes restores their soft texture.
