Ingredients

For the Crust
  • 1 package Crescent Roll Dough Provides a flaky, buttery crust; no substitutions necessary for easy layering.
  • 2 tablespoons Granulated Sugar (for topping) Sweetens the cinnamon sugar mixture; can substitute with brown sugar for a deeper flavor.
For the Filling
  • 8 ounces Cream Cheese (softened) Creates a smooth and creamy filling; ensure it's fully softened for easy mixing.
  • 1/3 cup Granulated Sugar (for filling) Sweetens the filling, balancing the tanginess of the cream cheese; no substitutes recommended.
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract Enhances flavor; can substitute with almond extract for a delightful twist.
  • 1 large Egg Binds the filling; milk can be used as a substitute, but the texture may be less stable.
For the Topping
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon Adds that classic churro flavor; no substitutions necessary, but cayenne pepper can add a subtle kick.
  • 2 tablespoons Granulated Sugar (for topping) Complements the cinnamon; can alternate with brown sugar for a richer taste.

Equipment

  • 9x13-inch baking dish
  • Mixing Bowl
  • small bowl

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  2. Mix granulated sugar and ground cinnamon in a small bowl. Sprinkle a layer of this mixture evenly on the bottom of the greased baking dish to create a sweet base.
  3. Beat the softened cream cheese in a mixing bowl until smooth. Gradually mix in granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and egg until the mixture is creamy and well combined.
  4. Roll out the crescent dough into flat sheets. Place the first sheet of dough in the baking dish over the layer of cinnamon sugar for a lovely crust.
  5. Spread the cheesecake filling evenly over the crescent dough layer.
  6. Top with the second layer of crescent dough, placing it gently over your creamy filling. Sprinkle the remaining cinnamon sugar mixture on top.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 27 to 30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
  8. Cool completely in the dish before slicing into bars.
