Method
 

Directions
  1. In a small bowl, combine the sugar, cinnamon, vanilla, and egg. Whisk until smooth and well blended, then set aside.
  2. In a medium saucepan, mix short grain rice, milk, salt, and heavy whipping cream. Heat over high until boiling.
  3. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 20-25 minutes, stirring frequently, until rice is soft and creamy.
  4. Gradually pour half a cup of the hot rice mixture into the egg mixture. Whisk quickly to combine.
  5. Return the egg mixture to the saucepan. Stir continuously over low heat for 5-10 minutes until thickened.
  6. Serve warm. Optionally, top with whipped cream or cinnamon.
