How to Make Apple Kringle
- Prepare the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, active dry yeast, sugar, and salt. Cut in cold unsalted butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Pour in warm milk and add the egg; knead until smooth. Allow to rise in a warm place for 1 hour until it doubles in size.
- Make the Filling: While the dough is rising, peel and dice the apples. Toss apple chunks with cinnamon and a sprinkle of sugar until well coated.
- Assemble Kringle: Once the dough has risen, gently punch it down. Roll out the dough into a large rectangle. Spread the apple filling evenly over the dough and shape it into a ring, sealing the edges.
- Bake: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the assembled Kringle on a lined baking sheet. Bake for about 30 minutes until golden brown.
- Glaze: Mix powdered sugar with vanilla extract and a little water for a smooth consistency. Drizzle over the warm Kringle.
- Cool and Serve: Allow to cool for 10 minutes before slicing. Enjoy warm!
