How to Make Dutchman Burger
  1. Prepare Onions: Peel and slice the onion into thick rounds. Drizzle with Worcestershire sauce and olive oil, then sprinkle with seasoning and brown sugar. Let these sit to absorb flavors.
  2. Caramelize Onions: Heat a pan over medium-low heat and cook onion slices for about 10 minutes on each side until deep brown and tender.
  3. Season and Shape Patties: Season ground beef with Tony Chachere’s seasoning, divide into four portions, and shape into thin patties.
  4. Cook Patties: Increase heat to medium-high and cook patties for 2-3 minutes per side, adding cheese slices a minute before done.
  5. Make Special Sauce: Combine mayonnaise, relish, mustard, sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, and cayenne pepper in a bowl. Whisk until smooth.
  6. Assemble Burger: Place a caramelized onion slice on a plate, add a beef patty, drizzle with special sauce, and top with another onion slice.
