Ingredients
  

For the Crust
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour or gluten-free flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
For the Turtle Layer
  • 1 cup caramel melted
  • 1 cup pecans chopped
For the Chocolate Topping
  • 1 cup chocolate dark or milk chocolate

Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, granulated sugar, and softened butter. Blend until resembling coarse crumbs. Press into a greased baking pan and bake at 350°F for 15 minutes until lightly golden.
  2. Melt the caramel in a small saucepan over low heat. Stir in chopped pecans until well coated. Pour over the pre-baked crust, spreading evenly.
  3. Melt the chocolate in a microwave or double boiler, stirring until smooth. Pour and spread evenly over the caramel layer.
  4. Let the bars cool at room temperature for 30 minutes, then refrigerate until firm, about 2 hours.
  5. Remove from the refrigerator and cut into squares. Serve as a sweet treat.
