  • 1 sheet Puff Pastry thawed and kept chilled
For the Almond Filling
  • 8 oz Almond Paste homemade for more flavor
  • 1/2 cup Softened Butter unsalted for control over sweetness
  • 1/2 cup Granulated Sugar increase for a sweeter treat
  • 1 large Eggs reserve part of a beaten egg for brushing
For the Toppings
  • 1/4 cup Sliced Almonds sprinkle generously on top
  • powdered sugar Powdered Sugar for dusting before serving

Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Roll out the thawed puff pastry on the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between its edges.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine almond paste, softened butter, granulated sugar, and half of the beaten egg. Stir until smooth.
  4. Spread the almond filling down the center third of the pastry. Cut diagonal strips on both sides and alternately fold them over.
  5. Brush the top of the assembled pastry with the remaining beaten egg.
  6. Bake the pastry in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until golden brown and puffy.
  7. Allow to cool slightly before dusting with powdered sugar and slicing to serve warm.
