Preparation Steps
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Roll out the thawed puff pastry on the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between its edges.
- In a mixing bowl, combine almond paste, softened butter, granulated sugar, and half of the beaten egg. Stir until smooth.
- Spread the almond filling down the center third of the pastry. Cut diagonal strips on both sides and alternately fold them over.
- Brush the top of the assembled pastry with the remaining beaten egg.
- Bake the pastry in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until golden brown and puffy.
- Allow to cool slightly before dusting with powdered sugar and slicing to serve warm.
