How to Make One-Pan Sweet and Tangy BBQ Sausage Rice
- Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Sear sliced smoked sausage until deeply browned, about 3–4 minutes per side. Set aside but keep drippings in the pan.
- Cook chopped onion in the same pan until translucent, about 5 minutes. Add minced garlic and cook for an additional 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add uncooked long grain rice, stirring to coat it in the pan’s flavors; toast for 2–3 minutes until edges are golden.
- Pour in chicken broth, BBQ sauce, and soy sauce (if using). Scrape the bottom of the pan and bring to a gentle simmer.
- Return the browned sausage to the pan, stirring together. Cover and simmer over low heat for 18–20 minutes until rice is tender.
- Let sit covered for 5 minutes after cooking. Fluff rice with a fork and season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Garnish with chopped green onions or parsley before serving hot.

Notes
Consider serving with a side salad or crusty bread for extra heartiness. Adjust seasoning as necessary.
