- In a large bowl, combine the chicken with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and lemon juice. Marinate for 20-30 minutes.
- Add the egg and cornstarch to the marinated chicken. Mix until well-coated.
- Heat oil in your pan over medium-high heat. Fry the chicken in batches for about 8-10 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.
- In a medium saucepan, mix water, chicken bouillon, sugar, soy sauce, ketchup, vinegar, chili garlic sauce, garlic paste, salt, and black pepper. Bring to a gentle boil.
- Create a slurry by mixing additional cornstarch with a bit of water. Stir this mixture into the sauce and simmer until thickened, about 2-3 minutes.
- Add the crispy chicken pieces into the saucepan with the sauce. Let it simmer uncovered for about 10 minutes.
- Serve hot, garnished with toasted sesame seeds and chopped scallions.
