  • 1 tsp Salt Adjust according to taste.
  • 1 tsp Turmeric Powder For color and mild earthiness.
For the Sauce
  • 1/4 cup Sweet Soy Sauce Kecap manis recommended.
  • 2 tbsp Light Soy Sauce Tamari is a gluten-free substitute.
  • 2 tbsp Oyster Sauce Vegetarian option available.
  • 1 tsp Rice Vinegar White vinegar as alternative.
  • 1 cup Water Adjust for sauce consistency.
  • 2 tsp Curry Powder Optional for extra spice.
For Aromatics
  • 1 Onion Sliced, shallots can substitute.
  • 1 tsp Minced Garlic Fresh garlic preferred.
  • 1 Chili Pepper Optional for heat.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, season your chicken pieces with turmeric powder and salt.
  2. Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Arrange the chicken in batches and air fry for 15-20 minutes.
  3. In a medium skillet over medium heat, warm a little oil and sauté the sliced onions until translucent and fragrant.
  4. Add in the minced garlic and optional chili pepper, stirring for about 30 seconds.
  5. Pour the sweet soy sauce mixture into the skillet and gently fold in the air-fried chicken pieces.
  6. Plate the hot chicken over rice, drizzling any remaining sauce on top.
