How to Make Hearty Baked Shipwreck Casserole
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Brown the ground beef and chopped onion in a skillet over medium heat until the beef is no longer pink and the onion is translucent. Drain any excess fat.
- Layer sliced potatoes in the bottom of a large casserole dish.
- Add the browned beef and onion mixture over the potatoes.
- Arrange sliced carrots and chopped green bell pepper on top of the beef layer.
- Sprinkle canned corn evenly over the vegetable layers.
- Mix the condensed tomato soup with one can of water; season with salt and pepper to taste. Pour this mixture over the layered ingredients.
- Cover the casserole dish with aluminum foil and bake for 1.5 hours.
- Remove the foil, then sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top. Bake uncovered for an additional 15 minutes.
- Let sit for 5 minutes before serving.
