Cooking Steps
- In a medium pot, combine the short or medium-grain white rice, milk, and sugar. Stir gently as you bring to a gentle simmer over low heat.
- Once simmering, add the warm cinnamon and butter. Stir frequently and simmer for about 30-35 minutes, until the rice is tender and creamy.
- During the last few minutes of cooking, stir in raisins or dried cranberries if using.
- Remove from heat, and if using an egg, stir it in for a richer consistency. Let cool slightly before serving.
- Serve warm or chilled, optionally sprinkle a little cinnamon on top for garnishing.
