  • 12 pieces Jumbo Pasta Shells Manicotti shells can be used as a substitute.
  • 1 pound Ground Beef Ground turkey or chicken can be used for a lighter option.
  • 15 ounces Ricotta Cheese Cottage cheese can be used for a lighter option.
  • 2 cups Mozzarella Cheese Mix in gouda or provolone for added flavor.
For the Sauce
  • 2 cups Marinara Sauce Homemade or store-bought.
  • 3 cloves Garlic Fresh minced garlic recommended for the best flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon Italian Seasoning Oregano and basil can be used as substitutes.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a baking dish with a layer of marinara sauce.
  2. Boil the jumbo pasta shells in salted water for 8-10 minutes until al dente; drain and set aside.
  3. In a skillet, brown the ground beef until fully cooked, then drain excess fat. Stir in minced garlic and Italian seasoning, and mix in ricotta cheese until well combined.
  4. Fill each cooled shell with the beef and cheese mixture and arrange seam-side up in the greased baking dish.
  5. Pour marinara sauce over the stuffed shells, then sprinkle with mozzarella and Parmesan cheese. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes; then uncover and broil for 5 minutes until golden.
  6. Allow to cool slightly before serving, with additional marinara sauce if desired.
