How to Make Irresistibly Cheesy Homemade Sourdough Cheez-Its
  1. Finely grate the cheddar cheese and cube the cold butter.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine cheddar cheese, sourdough discard, and cold butter. Mix until crumbly.
  3. Gradually incorporate flour, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt. Mix until just combined.
  4. Lightly flour the working surface and roll out the dough to ⅛-inch thickness.
  5. Cut out desired cracker shapes and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  6. Sprinkle flaky salt over the cut crackers.
  7. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 20 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Allow to cool on the baking sheet before transferring to a wire rack.
