- Preheat the oven to 350°F and line an 8x8 or 9x9 square pan with foil or parchment paper, greasing the surface.
- Combine the granulated sugar and hot melted butter in a large mixing bowl. Let it sit for 5 minutes, then whisk until smooth.
- Add the eggs, water, and vanilla extract and whisk until well combined and frothy.
- Sprinkle the cocoa powder, powdered sugar, flour, and kosher salt over the mixture. Stir gently and then fold in the chocolate chips.
- Pour the batter into the pan and bake for 28-33 minutes for an 8x8 pan, or 18-23 minutes for a 9x9 pan. A toothpick should come out with moist fudgy crumbs.
- Cool the brownies on a wire rack before cutting them into squares.
