  • 4 pieces Pork Chops Boneless or bone-in
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil Can be swapped with vegetable oil
For the Seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Black Pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder Fresh minced garlic can be used
  • 1 teaspoon Onion Powder Optional if using fresh onions
  • 1 teaspoon Paprika Feel free to omit
For the Cream Sauce
  • 4 tablespoons Unsalted Butter Margarine can change flavor
  • 1/4 cup All-Purpose Flour Substitute with gluten-free flour
  • 2 cups Whole Milk Can switch to skim or almond milk
  • 1 cup Chicken Broth Vegetable broth for vegetarian option
  • 1/2 cup Heavy Cream Half-and-half is a lighter substitute
  • 1 teaspoon Thyme Fresh or dried; oregano could be substituted
For the Potatoes
  • 4 medium Yukon Gold or Russet Potatoes
For the Topping
  • 1 cup Shredded Mozzarella or Gruyère Cheese Cheddar for sharper flavor
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh Parsley Optional garnish

Method
 

Steps
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to get it ready for baking your delicious casserole.
  2. Season the pork chops with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika. Sear them in olive oil for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown.
  3. Caramelize sliced onions in the same skillet by melting butter for about 5 minutes. Stir in fresh garlic and let it cook for another minute.
  4. Whisk in flour and cook for 1-2 minutes, then gradually stir in milk, chicken broth, and heavy cream. Cook until thickened and season to taste.
  5. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the skillet, pour half of the creamy sauce over them, and sprinkle half of the cheese. Repeat with remaining ingredients.
  6. Place the seared pork chops on top and cover with foil.
  7. Bake for 45 minutes covered, then uncover and bake for an additional 20-25 minutes until tender and golden.
  8. Rest the casserole for 10 minutes before serving; garnish with fresh parsley.
