  • 1 pound raw extra jumbo shrimp Peeled and deveined
  • thin slices of fresh lime For flavor

  • 1 teaspoon minced jalapeno Adjust to spice tolerance
  • 2 teaspoons brown sugar Can substitute with honey
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika Regular paprika is an alternative
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder Use a mild blend
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder Omit if using fresh garlic
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder Can be omitted
  • 1 teaspoon cumin For a warm flavor
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt Adjust according to dietary needs
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper Adds slight heat
  • 2 teaspoons tequila Optional for flavor

Preparation
  1. Soak the wooden skewers in water for about 30 minutes.
  2. Place shrimp in a bowl, ensuring they are peeled and deveined.
  3. Blend olive oil, garlic, jalapeno, brown sugar, smoked paprika, chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, kosher salt, and black pepper in a bowl until smooth.
  4. Pour the marinade over the shrimp, stir to coat, and refrigerate for 2-3 hours.
  5. Optionally drizzle tequila over shrimp before marinating.
  6. Thread marinated shrimp onto skewers, adding lime slices in between.
  7. Preheat grill to medium-high heat.
  8. Grill skewers for 3-4 minutes per side until shrimp are opaque.
  9. Serve arranged on a platter with cilantro and lime wedges.
