  • 1/4 tsp Cayenne Pepper Adjust according to spice tolerance.
  • 6 tbsp Butter Chill and grate for best results.
For the Cheesy Goodness
  • 1 jar Pimentos Drained; substitute with roasted red peppers if needed.
  • 1 cup Sharp Cheddar Cheese Shredded; a milder cheese can be used for a softer taste.
For the Binding
  • 1 1/4 cups Buttermilk Regular milk and vinegar can be used as a substitute.
For the Finishing Touch
  • Smoky Paprika Optional garnish.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (218°C).
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, sugar, garlic powder, and cayenne until evenly combined.
  3. Cut the cold butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese and drained pimentos until well distributed.
  5. Gently mix in the buttermilk until a cohesive dough forms.
  6. On a floured surface, roll out the dough to about ¾ to 1 inch thick, then cut out biscuit shapes.
  7. Brush the tops with buttermilk or melted butter and sprinkle with smoky paprika.
  8. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
