How to Make Mouthwatering Baked French Onion Gnocchi
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add sliced onions and sauté for about 20-25 minutes until they are deeply caramelized and golden brown.
- Pour in your choice of broth and let it simmer for 10 minutes.
- Stir in the heavy cream, then season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Cook the gnocchi according to the package instructions until they float, usually about 2-3 minutes. Gently fold the cooked gnocchi into the onion mixture.
- Transfer the gnocchi and onion mixture to a baking dish, spread out evenly and top generously with grated Gruyere cheese.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Garnish with fresh thyme once it’s out of the oven and serve warm.
