Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, sugar, and salt. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Gently incorporate the buttermilk and freshly chopped strawberries into the mixture. Stir until just combined.
- Lightly flour your countertop, turn the dough onto the surface, pat it to about 1-inch thickness, and cut out rounds.
- Place the biscuits onto your prepared baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
- While the biscuits are baking, whisk together the powdered sugar and vanilla extract in a small bowl, adding water until desired consistency.
- Drizzle the icing over the tops of the biscuits once cooled slightly.
