  • 1 pound ground breakfast sausage savory base
  • 6 slices precooked bacon optional
For the Batter
  • 2 cups complete pancake mix just add water
  • 1 cup water
For the Cheese
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese melts beautifully
For the Sweetness
  • 1/4 cup real maple syrup or pancake syrup for mixing in
For the Finish
  • 2 tablespoons softened butter for serving
  • extra to taste syrup for serving

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Lightly spray a 9×13-inch baking dish with nonstick spray.
  2. Cook the ground breakfast sausage in a large skillet over medium heat until nearly fully cooked.
  3. Add the precooked bacon to the skillet and cook until crispy.
  4. Transfer the sausage and bacon to a paper towel-lined plate to drain.
  5. Combine pancake mix and water in a mixing bowl, stirring until just combined.
  6. Mix in the cooked bacon and sausage, shredded cheddar cheese, and syrup into the pancake mix.
  7. Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish.
  8. Bake on the middle rack for about 30 minutes.
  9. Spread softened butter on top after baking and serve warm with extra syrup.
