How to Make Carne Picada
- Start by cutting the bottom round roast into 1/2-inch cubes.
- In a bowl, combine the flour, chili powder, salt, black pepper, and cumin.
- Take the beef cubes and toss them in the flour and spice mixture until they’re thoroughly coated.
- In a large dutch oven, heat vegetable oil over high heat until shimmering.
- Add the seasoned beef in batches to the pot and brown for about 4-5 minutes per batch.
- Once browned, add the diced tomatoes, green chilies, and sugar to the pot.
- Cover the pot and lower the heat to a gentle simmer, letting it cook for 90 minutes.
- Spoon your hearty Carne Picada into tacos, burritos, or over rice for a comforting meal.
