How to Make Meatless Baked Ziti
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Boil ziti or rigatoni in salted water until just al dente, about 8-10 minutes; drain and set aside.
- (Optional) Sauté garlic in olive oil until fragrant, around 1-2 minutes.
- Combine ricotta cheese, beaten egg, Parmesan, and herbs in a bowl until well mixed.
- Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce in a 9x13-inch baking dish.
- Toss the cooked pasta with the remaining marinara sauce.
- Layer half of the sauced pasta in the dish, dollop with the ricotta mixture, and sprinkle with half the mozzarella.
- Repeat layering with the remaining pasta, more ricotta, and the rest of the mozzarella.
- Top with the remaining Parmesan.
- Cover with foil and bake for 20 minutes; remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes.
- Allow to rest for 10 minutes before serving.
