  • 1 cup Breadcrumbs Panko is recommended for crispiness
  • 3 cloves Garlic Freshly minced; substitute with garlic powder if needed
  • 1 medium Onion Diced; red onion is a great alternative
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan Cheese Grated; can also use Pecorino Romano
For the Tomato Sauce
  • 28 ounces Diced Tomatoes Opt for fire-roasted for extra flavor
  • 1/2 cup Red Wine Optional; substitute with broth if preferred
For Cooking
  • 2 teaspoons Italian Seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon Salt Adjust to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon Pepper Adjust to taste

Method
 

Directions
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, minced garlic, diced onion, and seasonings. Use your hands to mix until well incorporated.
  2. Shape the mixture into meatballs, roughly 1-2 inches in diameter.
  3. Optionally, brown the meatballs in a skillet over medium heat with a little oil for 5-7 minutes.
  4. In your slow cooker, pour in the diced tomatoes and red wine. Stir gently.
  5. Place the meatballs carefully on top of the sauce, ensuring they're nestled in.
  6. Cover and set the slow cooker to low heat for 6-8 hours.
  7. Once cooked, gently stir the meatballs into the sauce and serve hot.
