Preparation
- Generously season the beef chuck roast with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Allow to sit for 15 minutes.
- Slice the large onion into rings and layer them at the bottom of the slow cooker.
- In a bowl, mix together the beef broth, brown gravy mix, and Worcestershire sauce until smooth.
- Place the seasoned beef on top of the onions, then pour the gravy mixture over everything.
- Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for about 8 hours until the beef is fork-tender.
- For thicker gravy, remove beef and mix cornstarch with water, then return beef after thickening.
- Serve the tender beef over prepared mashed potatoes with gravy.
