How to Make Smoked Gouda Apple Grilled Cheese
- Begin by thinly slicing your apple with a sharp knife or use a mandoline for even slices.
- Slice or grate the smoked Gouda cheese.
- Spread softened or melted butter on one side of each slice of bread.
- Place one slice of bread buttered-side down in a skillet. Layer half of the Gouda on top, followed by the apple slices, then the remaining Gouda, and finally top with the second slice of bread, buttered-side up.
- Preheat your skillet over medium-low heat. Add the assembled sandwich to the pan and cover loosely with a lid.
- Let it cook for 3-4 minutes per side, gently pressing down on the sandwich.
- Carefully remove the sandwich from the pan and allow it to sit for about 1 minute, then drizzle with honey if desired before slicing.
