Method

How to Make Smoked Gouda Apple Grilled Cheese
  1. Begin by thinly slicing your apple with a sharp knife or use a mandoline for even slices.
  2. Slice or grate the smoked Gouda cheese.
  3. Spread softened or melted butter on one side of each slice of bread.
  4. Place one slice of bread buttered-side down in a skillet. Layer half of the Gouda on top, followed by the apple slices, then the remaining Gouda, and finally top with the second slice of bread, buttered-side up.
  5. Preheat your skillet over medium-low heat. Add the assembled sandwich to the pan and cover loosely with a lid.
  6. Let it cook for 3-4 minutes per side, gently pressing down on the sandwich.
  7. Carefully remove the sandwich from the pan and allow it to sit for about 1 minute, then drizzle with honey if desired before slicing.
