How to Make Soft Fried Buns
  1. Activate Yeast: In a small bowl, mix lukewarm milk, water, and honey, then sprinkle the instant yeast on top. Allow it to sit for 5-10 minutes until it becomes foamy and bubbly.
  2. Combine Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the foamy yeast mixture with all-purpose flour, salt, and softened unsalted butter. Stir until everything is well incorporated into a shaggy dough.
  3. Knead the Dough: Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead it for about 8-10 minutes, or until it reaches a smooth and elastic texture.
  4. First Rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm area until it doubles in size, about 1-1.5 hours.
  5. Shape Buns: Divide the dough into 10 equal pieces, roll each piece into a ball, and fill with desired filling. Allow to rest for 30-40 minutes to puff.
  6. Fry Buns: Heat oil in a deep pan to 175°C (350°F). Fry the buns in batches until golden brown, about 2-4 minutes per side.
  7. Serve: Drain on paper towels and serve warm, optionally dusted with sugar or filled.
