- Cook the penne pasta according to the package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes. Drain and set aside.
- Brown the sausage by melting butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced smoked sausage, cooking until browned (about 5–7 minutes).
- Add minced garlic, smoked paprika, and red pepper flakes to the skillet. Sauté for another 1–2 minutes until fragrant.
- Pour in the chicken broth and allow it to reduce slightly, about 3–4 minutes.
- Stir in the heavy cream and Parmesan cheese, lowering the heat to allow them to melt and combine.
- Mix in the cooked penne pasta, ensuring it's well-coated with the sauce. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Garnish with freshly chopped parsley before serving.
