Pie Crust Preparation
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, salt, and granulated sugar.
- Add cold, cubed butter and mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Gradually stir in ice water until the dough holds together.
- Shape into a disk, wrap in plastic, and chill for 30 minutes.
Baking Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) for baking the pie.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out the chilled dough to fit a 9-inch pie pan.
- Carefully transfer it into the pan and prick the bottom with a fork to prevent bubbling.
- In a large bowl, whisk together light corn syrup, brown sugar, cocoa powder, and eggs until smooth.
- Stir in vanilla extract, pecans, and semi-sweet chocolate chips, blending everything evenly.
- Pour the rich chocolate filling into the prepared crust, spreading it evenly.
- Bake for 50-60 minutes until the edges are set and the center is slightly jiggly; it will firm up as it cools.
- Remove the pie from the oven and cool on a wire rack for at least 2 hours.
